5 Year Anniversary Pictures

I wanted to share some photos from our Anniversary shoot. The flower/berry crown I made is from my bouquet that I held when we got married under the birch tree. I want to give Elora Swan a shout out on taking our photos. She is a great photographer and gives direction while shooting with her. If you're looking for a photographer in the Alaska Interior Skye Photography is a great choice!

Our "song" that I also walked down to aisle to is "All I want is you" by Barry Louis

"All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea"

I am so glad she caught Jon playing with my hair. If you know us you understand Jon's obsession with my hair haha. If you don't, then pretty much my husband plays with my hair at all times and now my boys do too.

We got married September 5th under an old birch tree. The colors at that time here in Alaska are filled with reds, yellows, and oranges.

The sunset was perfect when we were out in this field that night.

I think my husband is pretty darn handsome!

Cheers to 5 years!

The big boys room

I've been slowly working on turning the boys nursing/catch all room into a "big boy" room for them. I painted their room when I was pregnant with Triston which was 3 1/2 years ago. The walls got dirty looking from our wood stove downstairs. I painted some trees last winter to try to hide the ugly walls but wanted a fresh clean look now.

There's only so many ways I can arrange the furniture in this room since it is so small and have decided I like this way the best.

What do my boys like you ask? Well of course you aren't because it's all over their room! Superheroes like every other little boy. But I must say, Skylar likes super heros (mostly iron man) way younger than Triston ever did. But I didn't want it to scream "Kmart" bedroom. In tried to do touches of them here and there instead.

This basket of "weapons" above use to be my nephews when he & my sister and their family lived here in Alaska a couple years back. And it's use is still being used as a weapons basket haha.

I try to display just a couple toys at different spots around the house and rotate them out. The boys will always grab these first before diving into their basket of toys.

Yes my children have a tv in their bedroom. I know many moms who would look very down on me for this but I don't care. 😉

My mom found this work bench at a consignment store for $15 the other day! The boys love that the saw actually turns on and makes lots of noise. And boy do I mean lots of noise!

Some Sky's factories stuffed animals.

I have been wanting a shelf for books in their room for some time now. But Ikea doesn't ship to Alaska and my small town didn't have any book shelves in my price range. Found this at Lowes on sale for $12! It's for the pantry to put canned foods in but works perfect for some of their books!

Well there's their tiny room, hope you enjoyed!

Tristons 3rd Birthday

Wow I can't believe I have a 3 year old. Okay so maybe not for a couple more days but we celebrated his birth today. I am over joyed by the love from all our friends and family today. Triston has been asking about his birthday since spring and I think this party exceeded his expectations because all his favorite people were here in the same place. Minus of course my sister and her kids which Triston told me today "Brody not come to my party, he too far away in California. I miss him". I just want to say thank you for those of you who came and blessed him with your love and gifts of course. The old saying "It takes a village to raise a child" comes to mind as I write this. It couldn't be more true! He got fully spoiled today I must say. He kept telling me all day while I was decorating "Thanks mommy for decorating for my party". This by far was the best birthday party.
I wanted to share with you guys some high lights of today so here you go, enjoy!

Cheers to 5 years!

Today marks five years of marriage for Jon and I. It's crazy to think we have been married half a decade already. The summer before we got married we were living in Tijuana Mexico working with YWAM building houses and doing street ministry. We almost eloped at least 5 times when we were down there but knew my family would be so hurt if we got married with out them. We came back to Alaska and told my parents we wanted to get married this year instead of the following like we had planned. They asked us to please wait but we were "too in love" and said no. They were leaving for California for a month that Sunday (this was on Monday when we had the conversation) and they wanted to be here. So we decided to get married that Saturday.
I at the time was only 19 and Jonathan was 23 and boy do we look young in these pictures!

I rode in on my dad's horse and we got married under a big birch tree next to my parents barn. We had just our family and a few close friends there to celebrate with us. The following year we had a big renewing of vows and celebration with all our family and friends.

Praying a blessing over our next 5 years to come and many more.
